Women's Entrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges

Vicki MacLeod, secretary general of the GTWN, spoke in the GSMA conference in Shanghai about the role of women in the ICT industry as enablers of economic and social development.

The presentation was also presented in the OECD workshop in Paris on  the 24th of June, 2014 highlighting areas where OECD governments can do more to support women entrepreneurs:

  • Incorporate women’s entrepreneurship as a driver of innovation in all policy areas
  • Work with industry to develop quantitative and qualitative benchmarks to measure progress towards greater diversity and inclusion in both OECD and non-OECD countries
  • Develop cross-sectoral working team to identify best practice examples and case studies
  • Include women’s entrepreneurship in G20/ B20 innovation and investment agenda.
